THE MASQUE

The prince of plays
Unfolds the stage
The curtain soon will rise
The actor smiles awaits the cue
Let the Masque begin he cries

The fantasies of poets dreams
Change water into wine
As the music weaves its imagery
Let the Masque engage your mind

The prophet speaks forgotten words
While served a cross and nails
His altar's stained with martyrs' blood
Will faith balance the scale?

Bishop dons the cloak of war
His scattered armies fail
The cross of peace
Has so been leased
Can faith balance the scale?

A minstrel sings an ancient rhyme
Of memories of wine and song
As seasons change the song remains
And still the Masque goes on

The prince of plays
Unfolds the stage
The curtain soon will rise
The actor smiles awaits the cue
Let the Masque begin he cries
