THE WAITING ROOM

"Go on up, I'll wait for the news,
Sit over here, dry off my shoes,
And try to ignore the drabby hues
Of the waiting room"
Shared by one…

Never seen a man so concerned with time,
Every swing of the pendulum,
Strike of the chime,
Man and clock in iconic rhyme
Reverse to you,
Converse to me

"I'm a second stage Kleptomaniac,
I take things away, but I put them back
There in the cooler, they tie me to my sack
To myself I look, a very frightened child"

"This silly madness outside would thrive,
Because of this, must myself deprive,
Independent journey down the rain-washed drive,
Can't you see?
It will mean more to me"

"You could construct no finer song,
Than the fall beyond the wall
Their numbers could be counted
By the tears that fall within,
That fall within"

Stretching to see if the hallway is clear,
I cup my hands,
So no one can hear
The short breathed laugh
That comes with a tear
To myself I look…
A very frightened child
